Saturday, November 22nd, 2008: Baltimore Deals Willits to Chicago (A) for Rodriguez
The Baltimore Orioles have parted ways with 27-year old left fielder Reggie Willits, sending him to the Chicago (A) White Sox for 28-year old left fielder Mike Rodriguez. The Orioles general manager confirmed the deal in an announcement this morning.

In his career Willits has hit for a .294 average and totaled 150 hits, 3 home runs and 51 RBIs.

In his career Rodriguez has hit .278 with 354 hits, 29 home runs, 143 RBIs and scored 164 runs.
Monday, October 27th, 2008: Gordon Rewarded with Rookie of the Year Award
2008 was a much better year than Alex Gordon expected. This spring he was overjoyed at just making the Chicago (A) roster. Not only did he make the team, he was the starting third baseman.

Then it got even better.
In his debut season Gordon hit .290 with 173 hits in 596 at-bats, 38 home runs, 101 RBIs, walked 91 times and had a .386 OBP. Numbers healthy enough to be honored with the American League Rookie of the Year Award.

He will pick up his trophy as the league's top newcomer this weekend at the annual SION awards dinner.
Saturday, September 20th, 2008: Red-Hot Almonte Scorches Mariners
Today the Mariners downed the White Sox 9-7, but Erick Almonte did his best to avoid it as he lashed hits all over U.S. Cellular Field in a 5-hit explosion, finishing up with 5 hits in 5 at-bats.

"I don't remember a better day batting, but it sure is disappointing to lose the game," the Chicago (A) shortstop said to SION reporters in the postgame interview. "A win would have made the day much sweeter."

Asked if he had a hitting philosophy, Almonte said, "It makes it easier if you get a good pitch. The odds are in your favor then, not the pitcher's. I got a bunch of good pitches to hit today, and I didn't miss any of them."

E. Almonte singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off D. Rasner in the 9th.

Almonte is presently hitting at a .212 pace with 12 home runs and 33 RBIs. He has played in 120 games and scored 39 times.
