Sunday, June 22nd, 2008: Round 3 Sweep to Flying Tigers
It was two outs in the last inning of the 2008 Round 3.
"When he hit it, I knew that it was my ball," the Flying Tigers fielder said. "But I had to catch it and it seemed like the hardest catch of my life. I said to myself, 'Two hands, just like your dad taught you.'"

He squeezed the ball like a precious diamond -- and the party began -- the Lakeland Flying Tigers had just won their 1st league championship with a 1-0 win over the Lake Elsinore Storm.

During the season the new champs compiled a 33-27 record in the American - A Central Division and finished in second place in the standings. They triumphed over the Storm 4-0 in games.
Saturday, June 21st, 2008: Flying Tigers Shut Out Storm
Sometimes even Scott Maine of Lakeland isn't sure which pitcher will show up when he takes the mound.

"I've been good sometimes and bad sometimes," he said.

This time he made the Lake Elsinore Storm look bad 13-0.

Maine tossed a 3-hit shutout against them, totaling 5 strikeouts and giving up 1 walk.

Friday, May 30th, 2008: Maybin Goes 5-5
It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Cameron Maybin. It was very special day, one that many players never experience. But he did. Maybin went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off Stockton pitching.

When the dust settled on the diamond at Field Hawks Ballpark, he had a career 5-5 day and something he will long remember. And the Lakeland Flying Tigers had a 8-5 victory over the Ports.

"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he laughed in the SION postgame interview.

C. Maybin hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off J. Unknown in the 5th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.

In 2008 Maybin has produced 35 hits in 121 at-bats for a .289 average with 4 home runs and gotten on base at a .383 clip.
