| Breaking News | | Sunday, August 10th, 2008: 5-5 Day for Santos Francisco Santos exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Ballpark of New Britain. The New Britain first baseman had a field day in the 6-1 triumph over the Bowie BaySox, finishing up with a 5-5 day and a spot in the league record book.
"My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch."
Well, Santos must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat.
F. Santos hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
So far in 2008 Santos is batting .325 with 8 home runs, 62 RBIs and 70 runs scored. He has 153 hits in 471 at-bats and a .380 OBP. | | Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008: Big Day with Bat, Hunter 5-8 Cedric Hunter told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard."
Well, that's just what Hunter of the Binghamton Mets did against the Bowie BaySox. He went to the plate 8 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, much to the chagrin of the BaySox, who suffered a 6-5 defeat.
"Not much that I can say," offered the losing manager, "he just hammered the heck out of us."
C. Hunter singled in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, hit an RBI double in the 8th, flied out in the 9th, walked in the 12th, singled in the 14th, grounded out in the 16th, walked in the 18th and walked in the 20th.
In 32 games Hunter is hitting .319 this season for the Mets with 43 hits, 5 home runs, 25 RBIs, 19 walks, .401 OBP and has scored 37 runs . | | Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008: Callaspo on Rampage Against BaySox! "It was almost like batting practice. I saw the ball very well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted." That's what Binghamton shortstop Alberto Callaspo said to SION reporters after his fantastic 5-6 day against the Bowie BaySox at Field of the Mets. "I got some good counts and used the whole field."
The Mets had a good day, too, and won the ballgame 22-2.
A. Callaspo singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off M. Trumbo in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off G. Miller in the 9th.
