| Breaking News |  | Thursday, June 10th, 2010: Ouch! Doug Slaten Shelved by Injury
Medical officials from the Boston Red Sox reported that the club's 30-year-old reliever, Doug Slaten, suffered a strained back muscle in yesterday's matchup against the Chicago (N) Cubs while throwing a pitch. Slaten is expected to miss 1-2 weeks of action.
So far this year Slaten has nailed down 1 save. His won-lost record is 0-0 with a 6.19 ERA.

Boston's Vince Sinisi nabbed the latest American League Player of the Week Award for his batting prowess this past week.
Posting a hefty .519 average with 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 11 runs scored, the 28-year-old is the toast of Boston right now.
Thus far this year Sinisi is hitting .361 with 4 home runs, 24 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

 | Wednesday, May 26th, 2010: Tejada Collects Hit Number 2000
It was a day of mixed emotions for New York (A) shortstop Miguel Tejada, who collected his 2000th hit in the club's 3-1 loss to Boston. Yankees and Red Sox fans alike cheered Tejada as he reached base after his historic hit.
"I wish the score had been different," Tejada said after the game, "but it was a great moment. The standing ovation was really special...even the fans wearing Red Sox caps were cheering me."
Tejada was 1-4 on the day.
Tejada has a lifetime .274 average with 2000 hits, 327 doubles, 35 triples, 336 home runs and 1201 RBIs to date.
