Friday, June 18th, 2010: Lannan Twirls Sky Chiefs to Shutout Victory
John Lannan of the Syracuse Sky Chiefs worked his mound magic on the Norfolk Tides. He blanked them 8-0 on 4 hits, registering 11 strikeouts and no walks.

"Making good pitches is the name of the game and I made some good ones in this one," said Lannan to SION scribes after the game.

In 7 starts this season, Lannan has recorded 4 wins and absorbed no losses. He has pitched 54.2 innings, allowed 41 hits, struck out 54 and has a 1.15 ERA.
Wednesday, May 19th, 2010: Romak Socks It to Tides, Cracks 5 Hits
Next time the Tides might think twice about pitching to Jamie Romak. Today at Clippers Ballpark the Columbus third baseman really burned Norfolk pitching, going 5-for-6 in the Clippers 16-3 triumph.

"When he's seeing the ball well," his skipper told reporters, "he can probably stroke a base hit blindfolded."

This season Romak has hit at a .396 clip with 15 RBIs, 4 home runs and 9 runs scored. He has played in 30 games.
Tuesday, April 27th, 2010: Cota Torches Tides for 5 Hits
Players get multi-hit games all the time. But a 5-hit game only comes around once in a blue moon. It happened at Lynx Ballpark when Humberto Cota of Ottawa scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Norfolk Tides.

He walloped 5 hits in 5 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Lynx get by the Tides 5-1.

In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the catcher of the Lynx exclaimed, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens...good things happen...like 5-5. I could get used to a lot of days like this one."

H. Cota singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off M. Minor in the 9th.

Cota is currently hitting at a .329 pace with 5 home runs, 16 RBIs and has scored 11 times.
