| Breaking News |  | Wednesday, May 26th, 2010: Ramirez Injured, Out of Lineup 2 Weeks The Oakland Athletics will lose the services of second baseman Alexei Ramirez after he sustained a strained rib cage muscle while colliding with a player at a base in today's game against the Cleveland Indians. When asked about the injury, he took a philosophical approach. "Worse things can happen in life," Ramirez said. "The key now is to stay positive." His trainer said he is expected to be sidelined for the next 2 weeks.
Hitting .272 to date, Ramirez has 4 home runs and 18 RBIs. He has played in 47 games. |  | Saturday, May 22nd, 2010: Santana Shuts Out Athletics Speaking after the game, the Tampa Bay manager said, "Johan Santana had everything going for him. He controlled their bat speed, stayed down, had a lot of movement... he had it all...masterful."
Santana held the Oakland Athletics to 1 hit and fashioned a fine 7-0 shutout. He had 1 walk and 11 strikeouts in the game.
"We couldn't get anything going. He certainly had our number," the Oakland skipper told reporters.

In the Oakland 6-5 win over New York (A), Carlos Quentin was in a home run mode. He tortured the Yankees, cracking out three home runs and going 3-4 with 5 RBIs and scoring 3 runs.
"When you're hot, you're hot," said a grinning Quentin at the SION postgame press conference.
"I got some good pitches to hit and got a good swing going today. I cannot believe it happened. I was like, 'I don't know what I'm doing.' It was one of the better days in my baseball career. I was on cloud nine out there and I was enjoying it."
C. Quentin struck out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off J. Cueto in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off J. Cueto in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off B. Cecil in the 7th.
