Jimmy Gobble of the Buffalo Bisons strung a bunch of high quality starts together in August to earn the International League Pitcher of the Month trophy.
For the month he finished with a superlative 4 wins and 1 loss and a 1.95 ERA. The Buffalo star started 6 games, pitched 50.2 innings and struck out 49.
This season to date, Gobble has fashioned a 13-11 mark and 3.24 ERA in 219.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .237 against him and he has logged 210 strikeouts.

 | Tuesday, August 19th, 2008: Porfirio Valdez to Miss 1-2 Weeks
The Bisons received bad news this morning. Porfirio Valdez will miss 1-2 weeks due to a tender shoulder. In the Buffalo-Toledo game he sustained the injury while throwing a pitch. "I'm disappointed more than anything," he told reporters later in the day. "You can't help your team on the bench," Valdez sighed. "I'll do the rehab work and hope for a quick recovery."
This year Valdez has chalked up a 3.20 ERA with no saves. In no relief appearances he has put up a 6-5 won-lost mark and struck out 90 batters in 129.1 innings.

 | Friday, July 25th, 2008: Danks Holds Red Wings Scoreless
Buffalo pitcher John Danks put on a show today and walked away with a 4-0 shutout victory over the Rochester Red Wings, throttling them on 3 hits. He just cruised through their lineup, fanning 12 and walking 3 in a strong outing.
"He was very efficient and he hit his spots," his manager said. "He stayed down in the zone and stayed away from the middle of the plate."
In 2008 Danks has compiled a 8-12 record with a 3.54 ERA in 22 starts.
