Pacific Coast League pitchers tried and tried all week long to stop Nick Swisher, but to no avail.
His eyes would light up when he came to the plate and he hit everything in sight, batting .500 for the week to win the PCL Player of the Week Award. The Tacoma first baseman cracked 7 hits in 14 at-bats, 2 home runs, drove in 6 runs and scored 4 times.

 | Sunday, April 5th, 2009: Humphries Records Shutout Against Tucson
"He was too darn good for us today," grumbled the Tucson manager after his club suffered a 5-0 shutout at the hands of William Humphries of the Memphis Redbirds. He held the Tucson Sidewinders scoreless in a 5-hit whitewash.
Humphries was in a zone of his own most of the game and finished with 8 strikeouts and 3 walks in a strong outing.
In a postgame quote his own skipper added, "He pitched his butt off, had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. William did a whale of a pitching job."

"I felt great out there. After the second or third inning, I got real comfortable," Luke Hochevar said in his postgame interview. "Hopefully this is a building block for me. I'm hoping for a few more starts like this."
The Round Rock hurler scored a 1-0 shutout victory over the Sidewinders, stopping them on 2 hits. He rung up 9 strikeouts and gave up 1 walk in today's performance.
