 | Thursday, August 14th, 2008: Bang Up Game! Morneau Slams 3 Homers! Baltimore first baseman Justin Morneau sensed he was going to have a good game at the plate, but he underestimated just a little bit. Prior to the game, Morneau predicted he would hit a home run against the New York (A) Yankees. During batting practice he told his teammates, "I really got my swing down pat. I feel some thunder in the lumber. I'm gonna get me a home run in this game." He was right. He did hit a home run -- three of them, in fact -- pacing the Orioles over the Yankees 7-6. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Morneau told SION reporters after the game. To go along with the homers, he collected 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs. J. Morneau hit a solo-shot off C. Buchholz in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off C. Buchholz in the 4th, singled in the 6th, struck out in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off J. Woods in the 11th. Thus far in 2008 Morneau is batting .266 with 20 home runs, 48 RBIs and 59 runs scored. |
