Sunday, June 20th, 2010: Pirates and Mets Agree to Deal
The rumor has been going on for a while now, but today it was made official. The Pittsburgh Pirates sent 23-year old minor league catcher Jake Jefferies, 26-year old minor league second baseman Angel Sanchez, a 4th round draft pick and a 5th round draft pick to the New York (N) Mets for 29-year old starting pitcher Sergio Mitre and 31-year old second baseman Rafael Furcal.

Officials from both teams seem to be pleased with the deal.



Mitre has started 2 times this year, pitched 31.2 innings, fanned 27 batters and walked 10. His current record is 2 wins and 1 loss with a 6.25 ERA.
Sunday, June 20th, 2010: Kansas City and Colorado Agree to Deal
A trade between the Kansas City Royals and the Colorado Rockies was made official this morning. The Kansas City Royals have sent 34-year old catcher Ramon Hernandez, 22-year old catcher Max Sapp, 29-year old starting pitcher Luis Martinez, 34-year old reliever Hideki Okajima, 32-year old minor league third baseman Ty Wigginton, 31-year old right fielder Joe Borchard, 20-year old minor league starting pitcher Colton Pitkin, 25-year old reliever Adam Crabtree and a 3rd round draft pick to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for 31-year old third baseman Akinori Iwamura, 26-year old starting pitcher Lance Pendleton, 27-year old catcher Jeff Mathis and 34-year old closer Scott Williamson.

In 6 starts this season Martinez has gathered 4 wins while suffering 2 losses. He has pitched 42.1 innings, allowed 42 hits, struck out 47 and has a 2.98 ERA.

So far this season Pendleton has a record of 5-5 with 84 strikeouts and 18 walks in 85 innings and a 4.66 ERA.
Sunday, June 20th, 2010: Mora Makes It Official, To Retire
"I've made up my mind to leave baseball," Melvin Mora said. "It's time to move into the second phase of my life."
The San Diego first baseman announced his retirement today at a press conference, saying it would be his last season.

His lifetime stats show that Mora has hit .253 and connected for 107 home runs.
