ASBL 06-11-2010 Home | | | Breaking News |  | Friday, June 11th, 2010: San Diego Trades Van Hekken to Detroit for Street Officials for the San Diego Padres confirmed that they have traded 30-year old starting pitcher Andy Van Hekken to the Detroit Tigers. In return, the Padres will receive 27-year old reliever Huston Street.
In 12 starts this year Van Hekken has recorded a 5-5 record and a 4.37 ERA.
Street has taken the hill fpr 17 relief appearances this season, nailing down 2 saves while notching a 2-1 record with a 5.29 ERA. The San Diego reliever has limited opposing batters to a .267 batting average. |  | Friday, June 11th, 2010: St. Louis-Houston Deal: Niemann for Bucktrot The rumor has been going on for a while now, but today it was made official. The St. Louis Cardinals sent 28-year old starting pitcher Jeff Niemann, 24-year old minor league third baseman Eric Campbell, 20-year old minor league starting pitcher Tyler Robertson, 23-year old minor league third baseman Jeremy Farrell and 22-year old minor league starting pitcher Julio Ramos to the Houston Astros for 29-year old starting pitcher Keith Bucktrot and 22-year old minor league shortstop Dee Gordon.
Officials from both teams seem to be pleased with the deal.
This season in 13 starts Jeff Niemann has a record of 5-5 with 73 strikeouts in 78.1 innings and a 5.63 ERA.
